Arsenal fans are eagerly awaiting updates on Ethan Nwaneri’s contract situation as the 18-year-old starlet’s current deal nears its final year, set to expire in June 2026.
The Hale End academy graduate, who made history as the Premier League’s youngest-ever debutant at 15, has become a key figure in Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Last season, Nwaneri shone with nine goals and two assists in 37 appearances across all competitions, earning a PFA Young Player of the Year nomination and scoring a memorable Champions League goal against Girona.

Last week negotiations were at a delicate stage, with Nwaneri seeking guarantees over playing time, however it seems there’s been a breakthrough this week with a contract extension now much closer to being signed.
The delay in finalising the deal stems partly from timing—Arsenal couldn’t offer a long-term contract until Nwaneri turned 18 in March due to FA regulations limiting players under 18 to three-year deals.
Additionally, the club’s pursuit of attacking talents like Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze has raised concerns about Nwaneri’s future game time, especially after his minutes dipped following Bukayo Saka’s return last season.
Despite these hurdles, optimism persists. Posts on X from trusted sources like SamC_reports suggest a new long-term contract could be signed soon, quashing fears of a potential free transfer next summer.
Arsenal’s firm stance against selling Nwaneri, coupled with Arteta’s track record of nurturing young talents like Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, bolsters hope. If successful, this extension will secure one of English football’s brightest prospects, ensuring Nwaneri’s flair and versatility remain at the Emirates for years to come.
