Key dates for the summer as Everton return to training

Where has the summer gone? We’re into the semi-final stages of the FIFA World Club Cup, Everton have only signed one new player (Carlos Alcaraz’s loan was made permanent) but have extended a couple of key players (Jarrad Branthwaite, Idrissa Gueye & Michael Keane) and will play their first preseason friendly in just under a fortnight.

While the new football season will not kick off for a few more weeks, the opening of the summer transfer window usually heralds the beginning of the new campaign. With the Premier League transfer window officially opened June 16th, we can be informally considered as already into the new season.

Monday June 16th - Summer transfer window opens in England [Premier League & Football League] and Scotland

Tuesday June 18th - 2025/26 Premier League fixtures released - see Everton’s schedule here.

Friday June 27th - Everton confirm an extension for Seamus Coleman.

Sunday June 30th - All expiring contracts end (Asmir Begovic, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Seamus Coleman, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Idrissa Gueye, Michael Keane, Joao Virginia, Ashley Young)

Wednesday July 2nd - Everton announce a new contract until 2030 for Jarrad Branthwaite.

Friday July 4th - Players report back to Finch Farm for pre-season training camp in Scotland

Saturday July 5th - Everton announce a one-year extension for Michael Keane.

Monday July 7th - Everton announce contract extension for Idrissa Gueye.

Tuesday July 15th - Everton at Accrington Stanley (Pre-season friendly)

Saturday July 19th - Everton at Blackburn Rovers (Pre-season friendly)

Saturday July 26th - Everton vs AFC Bournemouth (Pre-season friendly, US Tour)
