Bayern Munich player makes decision on next club after surprise links with Leeds United - Romano

The search for a goalkeeper goes on at Leeds United, with Adam Underwood expected to try and sign a replacement for Illan Meslier between now and the start of the Premier League season.

Leeds have now completed the signing of Lille’s Sweden international Gabriel Gudmundsson, while a move for Sean Longstaff is progressing and a belief a deal could be done by the end of the week.

That will take Leeds’ total of incoming signings to five, with Sebastian Bornauw, Jaka Bijol and Lukas Nmecha already in at Elland Road. The two additions will take spending north of the £40m mark so far.

But given the calibre of players, four of whom are internationals, £42m for the quintet seems good value. Focus turns to a goalkeeper with Vanja Milinkovic-Savic a priority, while another option leaves Bayern.

Goalkeeper on Leeds shortlist leaves Bayern Munich, for Italy

Before it had been confirmed that Manor Solomon would return to parent club Tottenham, Leeds were linked with an Israel teammate of his. Indeed, The Whites were said to be considering Daniel Peretz.

The Bayern goalkeeper was looking for a move after a lack of opportunities under Vincent Kompany and Leeds were touted with a move. However, Fabrizio Romano says he is joining a different side this summer.

Taking to X, Romano said Peretz is set for Patrick Vieira’s Genoa: “EXCL: Genoa are in advanced talks to sign Daniel Peretz from Bayern. Understand official bid has been sent to Bayern and agreement is close.”

Which other goalkeepers remain on Leeds United’s list?

There are a few. Lyon’s Lucas Perri is expected to move to the Premier League for a fee of £20m, though the identity of which Premier League club remains unclear. Leeds have been linked with a move for Perri.

Elsewhere, Leeds have been linked with Chelsea’s Djordje Petrovic but the Serbian ace is set for a move to Bournemouth while Nick Pope seems happy to stay at Newcastle despite James Trafford possibly arriving.

But without a doubt, 6ft 8in giant Milinkovic-Savic looks to be the one Leeds are targeting. Last night, it was claimed that Leeds had intensified talks for Milinkovic-Savic, who has a £19m exit clause at Torino.
