Slot and Robertson join Anfield’s Jota tributes

**Arne Slot has joined mourners in laying tributes at Anfield for Diogo Jota.**

The Liverpool head coach and wife Miryam added flowers to the sprawling memorial for the forward outside the Main Stand following his tragic death.

Jota and his brother Andre Silva were killed after their Lamborghini crashed due to a tyre blowout in the Zamora region of northern Spain last Thursday.

Slot oversaw the reigning Premier League champions’ first day of pre-season training earlier on Tuesday after the original start date had been postponed.

The Dutchman had prevously travelled to Jota’s hometown of Gondomar alongside members of the Reds’ squad to attend their teammate’s funeral.

“Diogo, we had the same dream and we fulfilled it together,” read the message on the tribute signed by Slot and his family.

“Andre and yourself will forever be in our hearts.”

Andy Robertson, who carried a floral tribute in memory of Jota’s brother at last Saturday’s service, also laid flowers outside the club’s home.

The full-back had also been among the guests at Jota’s wedding to his long-term partner Rute Cardoso just 11 days before the fatal incident occurred.

“MacJota, our hearts are broken but feeling very grateful for the memories you gave us all,” read Robertson’s message.

“I will miss you. Love you brother.”

Michael Edwards’ tribute described Jota as ‘down to earth, determined, a great finisher, and above all, loved and respected by all who knew him’.

Liverpool’s former sporting director, now CEO of Football for the club’s owners Fenway Sports Group, added: “He gave everything to the team with quiet strength and unwavering humility. His impact reached far beyond the pitch.”

Grace Fisk and Gemma Bonner also laid a floral tribute on behalf of Liverpool Women before signing the book of condolence in the Anfield Road Stand.
