Newcastle United’s players are back for pre-season, including Will Osula.
Preparations for the 2025/26 season are now underway, as a large portion of Eddie Howe’s players report to the Newcastle United training ground.
The likes of Nick Pope, Jacob Murphy and Fabian Schar were pictured at the training ground on Monday, alongside Brazilian superstar Joelinton. It was great to see Joelinton back after he missed the Magpies’ final five games of the 2024/25 season.
They were also joined by Will Osula, who had a very busy summer.

Will Osula copies what Anthony Gordon did at Newcastle United in 2023
Osula was part of the Denmark squad that competed at the European Under-21 Championship. He played in all four of their games, scoring three goals and providing two assists as they were knocked out in the quarter-finals.
Just over two weeks later, Osula is already back in training with Newcastle United. That is despite the fact that the Toon players who have been away on international duty have been given extended breaks.
The likes of Bruno Guimaraes, Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak are not back in training yet, and nor do they need to be. Osula does not need to be either, yet he has cut his break short to get back to work on Tyneside.

That level of commitment is commendable, and will stand him in good stead for the 2025/26 season.
The 21-year-old is emulating what Gordon did two years ago. The winger was part of the England squad that won the European Under-21 Championship, then immediately got his pre-season underway before enjoying the best campaign of his career to date.
Osula would love to do the same.
Newcastle United want to sign a new striker despite having Will Osula
Osula’s early return to training comes at a time when he could soon have another striker to compete with.
There is suddenly less competition for the youngster, with Callum Wilson leaving Newcastle United to become a free agent. That leaves Howe with Isak and Osula as his two striker options.
If no one else arrives this summer, Osula could be asked to play a lot more than he did during his debut campaign at St James’ Park. In total, he made 19 appearances in all competitions.
However, Newcastle do plan to sign another striker. That is going to be the Magpies’ priority once the Anthony Elanga deal is finalised.
It remains to be seen who Howe will go after. Geordie Boot Boys understand that Newcastle have held talks with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who is available on a free transfer.
