His presence in the squad has obviously run deeper than his performances on the field, and while it would be a shock to see him relied upon heavily in the Premier League, the club have moved to keep him around for another year.
Confirmed on Tuesday, Byram has penned a one-year extension to keep him at the club until the summer of 2026, his third successive one-year deal at Elland Road.

Sam Byram extension should benefit Leeds United harmony as pre-season spirits look high
There’s every reason for these players to be optimistic about a return to the Premier League, with the depth and quality we’re likely to have.
From a playing perspective, the top flight might be a bridge too far for Byram to have a regular influence, but being around the group should be worth it in terms of this contract.
He’s clearly a bright character to have around the squad and keeping him here won’t cost much, compared to what he could be worth behind the scenes, same with Alex Cairns and other experienced heads.
