Manchester United target Bryan Mbeumo is looking likely to join the Red Devils this summer as part of Ruben Amorim’s project to restore the club to its former glory.

The Red Devils are looking to bounce back after a bottom half of the table finish in the Premier League, with improvements needed across the pitch.

So far, the club’s attack have been the real focus, with Matheus Cunha being United’s first reinforcement before Mbeumo became the next priority.

However, talks between the two clubs have slowed whilst a transfer fee comparable to Cunha’s is being negotiated.

In the meantime, an interesting development has happened with the Cameroon international being absent from Brentford’s return to pre-season training.

Sam Tabuteau has reported that not only was Bryan Mbeumo absent from Brentford pre-season training when the squad returned this week, however the club told him he doesn’t have to return until next week.

Several players have been given extended leave this year for various reasons such as international duty with the Gold Cup, or in the case of Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot, being given extended absence regarding the tragic passing of fellow Portuguese teammate Diogo Jota.

However, with Mbeumo not being off for international duty, there’s no obvious reason for him to be given absence from training.

It was thought Mbeumo would report back this Monday as he wasn’t on international duty.

The club, however, told him he won’t have to report until next Monday. https://t.co/hfiet3nfAV
