The San Antonio Spurs take on the Los Angeles Lakers in what will be the third summer league game for each team. Both the Spurs and Lakers enter tonight’s affair with a summer league record of 1-1.
In San Antonio’s last outing, David Jones-Garcia led the way for the Silver and Black with 25 points, three assists, three rebounds and three steals in 29 minutes. Omari Moore chipped in with 13 points, including three shots from beyond the three-point arc, as the Spurs defeated the Golden State Warriors 90-88 (See the Final Grades).
The Lakers are also coming off of a win. Bronny James had ten points in only 11 minutes as L.A. crushed the Heat by a final count of 103-83. Cole Swider led the way for the Lakers with 20 points in 27 minutes.
San Antonio Spurs Injury Update
We know that two key summer league pieces won’t play tonight for the Spurs. Dylan Harper, the second overall selection in the 2025 NBA Draft, is sitting out with a minor groin injury. Riley Minix, the sharpshooter who was on a two-way contract with the Spurs last season, is out as he recovers from shoulder surgery. Both Harper and Minix are expected to play once the scene changes to Las Vegas, with tonight’s game in San Francisco the final contest being held in California.
Carter Bryant, who the Spurs selected with the 14th overall pick in this year’s draft, didn’t play against the Warriors. He most likely didn’t play due to that game being a back-to-back. For that reason, don’t be surprised if he suits up tonight versus the Lakers.
It also appears as if Harrison Ingram and Nate Mensah are on a minutes restriction. Both individuals played approximately 14 minutes in both of the first two summer league games. That minutes restriction could very well continue this evening.
San Antonio Spurs Starting Lineup
Four players started the first two summer league games for San Antonio: Harrison Ingram, Nate Mensah, David Jones-Garcia and Omari Moore. Dexter Dennis started in place of Carter Bryant against the Warriors.
Tonight, if Bryant plays, expect him to start alongside Ingram, Mensah, Jones-Garcia and Moore.
Betting Guide: Spurs vs. Lakers
The Lakers are favored by 6.5 points and the over/under is 175.5 points. The smart money is on the under. With Harper and Minix on the sidelines, the Spurs will likely have a difficult time putting the ball in the basket.
