The Indiana Pacers, after trading for Jay Huff, seem to have their starting center for next season, which could result in them missing the playoffs.
With no Myles Turner and no Tyrese Haliburton, the Pacers are expected to take a massive step back and struggle to even compete in the weak Eastern Conference.
While they have no shortage of center depth with Huff, James Wiseman, Isaiah Jackson, and Tony Bradley, they have been named as a possible landing spot for one of the best power forwards of this generation: Kevin Love.
Love was traded to the Utah Jazz in the deal that landed the Miami Heat Norman Powell, and he is expected to be bought out and sign a team-friendly deal to end his career on his own terms. He is well past his prime, but his floor spacing and mentorship could work wonders on the Pacers, especially in a down year.
Of course, the Cleveland Cavaliers, with whom he won his ring, are favorites to sign him, although the Pacers rank higher than one might think.
At 36 years old, Love is past his prime and would be more of a "locker room" pickup. Last season, he posted 5.3 points and 4.1 rebounds while spacing the floor. Granted, he has not played in 65 games since 2021-22, but his reliability, especially in a deep frontcourt rotation, would not be a major concern.
After spending much of his career on the Cavs, one of the Pacers' more bitter rivals, seeing him don the blue and gold would certainly be weird.
