Wizards flip Olynyk to Spurs for Branham, Wesley, 2026 second-rounder

Kelly Olynyk’s tenure as a Wizard is already over.

General manager Will Dawkins traded the 34-year-old to the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday in exchange for two prospects and a 2026 second-round pick, according to multiple reports.

Washington added guards Malaki Branham and Blake Wesley, a pair of 2022 first-round picks, in the deal. The draft pick is the least favorable pick from the Dallas Mavericks, Philadelphia 76ers or Oklahoma City Thunder.

Branham saw his playing time and production dip to career lows last season. He averaged five points and nine minutes per game in 47 appearances, all off the bench.

Wesley saw a similar decline, scoring just 3.7 points per game last season as a bench player in San Antonio.

Washington creates a $13 million trade exception with the deal and positions itself to add more salary during the season.

Olynyk, who has averaged 10.2 points and 5.2 rebounds over 13 seasons. never played a game in a Wizards uniform.

The journeyman forward joined Washington through the trade that sent Jordan Poole and Saddiq Bey to the New Orleans Pelicans.
