TBR Football can exclusively confirm what Aston Villa have made of Everton’s interest in John McGinn amid interest from other teams in the Scotland star.
Everton are on the lookout for further reinforcements in midfield after Abdoulaye Doucoure’s contract expired at the end of June.
And while the Toffees have signed Carlos Alcaraz and extended Idrissa Gueye’s contract, David Moyes would like more legs in midfield.
TBR Football can also confirm what Unai Emery thinks of McGinn behind the scenes and what Aston Villa plan to do about said interest in the Scot.

Aston Villa shocked by Everton interest in John McGinn as Rangers and Celtic also keen
TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey can confirm that Villa have little interest in allowing John McGinn to leave.
Bailey has been told that Everton do indeed like McGinn, but they are not alone – Glasgow duo Rangers and Celtic would love to take him north of the border.
However, Emery loves his captain and the club are shocked that his name has been linked.
“John McGinn remains a huge player for Villa in every way,” Bailey exclusively told TBR Football.
“I am told that Unai Emery loves working with him and he is one of his key lieutenants in the squad, he is not just a normal player.
“Villa were shocked to hear him linked – not surprised but, as it stands, there are no plans to move on from him – as he showed last season, he has plenty to offer.”

What David Moyes previously said about John McGinn
Moyes spoke highly of McGinn all the way back in August 2019, ahead of Villa’s first season back in the Premier League after promotion.
“John McGinn is another central midfielder who can do great things this season,” Moyes told the Sunday Post.
“Alan Stubbs had him at Hibernian and raved to me about him many times. I can see why.
“He adapted very quickly to life in the English Championship and dominated many games.”
McGinn would no doubt be a wonderful signing for Moyes and for Everton – but Villa aren’t planning on letting him leave any time soon.
