Manchester United are looking to strengthen their squad for now and the future

Amorim is hoping to get some new faces into his squad soon as United prepare to face Arsenal on the opening weekend of the Premier League season in mid-August. Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon are the only new additions so far. Cunha is expected to be a first-team regular while Leon may be given time in the Under-21s to settle into life in England having moved from South America.

However, he will train regularly with the first team and there are first team ambitions for the young defender.

Man Utd ‘to make offer’ for Milton Delgado

United have been linked with another young South American talent, with the Red Devils ‘expected to make an offer in the coming days’ for Boca Juniors defensive midfielder Milton Delgado.

That is according to a report from Canal 26, who note how the player has been dropped from the starting line-up following the arrival of new manager Miguel Ángel Russo. The 69-year-old was appointed at Boca ahead of the Club World Cup but did not give Delgado a single minute at the tournament as Boca drew with Benfica and Auckland City and lost to Bayern Munich as they failed to reach the knockout stage.

Delgado is valued at just under £5m but Boca are set to demand closer to £10m for his services. He is under contract with the Argentine club until 2028, having signed a new contract this year.

Who is Milton Delgado as other clubs linked

Delgado made his debut for Boca Juniors in April 2024. He missed the first six games of the season this year as he was playing for Argentina Under-20s in the South American Championship. When he returned to club football in late February, he was back in the starting line-up as he started the next 10 games.

However, the arrival of a new manager has put his future in doubt. In Europe, Inter Milan have also been linked with the midfielder while in South America Independiente, Godoy Cruz and Tigre have offered to sign him on loan but Boca are keen on an offer from abroad.

Delgado is a defensive midfielder and has made 30 appearances for the Boca senior side since breaking through, providing one assist.
