Latest Premier League news and rumours including Manchester United, Nottingham Forest, Fulham and Crystal Palace updates
The Red Devils finished down in 15th place in the Premier League table last season. They need to compete higher up the table in the next campaign. Therefore, they must add more quality to their ranks over the next couple of months with reinforcements.
The 3AM verdict: Manchester United wouldn’t have to pay for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Callum Wilson and Jamie Vardy which would be a boost. They have wasted too much money over recent years and need to be more sustainable on the transfer front. All three players would be useful back-up options. However, non of them would be very ambitious deals and would seem to be the cheap options.
Nottingham Forest in Johan Bakayoko talks
Nottingham Forest are in ‘talks’ with PSV over a deal for winger Johan Bakayoko, as per Football Insider. The 22-year-old has been a key player for his current club since breaking into their first-team back in 2022. They now face a real battle to keep hold of him in this window amid attention from elsewhere.
Bakayoko, who is a Belgium international with 18 caps under his belt, played for Club Brugge, Mechelen and Anderlecht in his native country before settling in Holland. He has since become a key player in Eindhoven and has scored 33 goals in 130 games, 12 of which came last term. His contract expires in June 2026 meaning he is due to become a free agent next year as things stand.
The 3AM Verdict: Nottingham Forest will need to find a replacement for Anthony Elanga, who isheading to Newcastle United it appears. The Reds are in Europe next season which should help them attract some big names over the next couple of months. Bakayoko would be ideal for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side if they were able to land his signature. He is young, has potential to develop in the future and has caught the eye for PSV in the Eredivisie over recent times.
Fulham and Crystal Palace eye Joe Willock
Fulham and Crystal Palace are keen on Newcastle United’s Joe Willock, CaughtOffside claim. Eddie Howe’s side have a decision to make on the midfielder’s future. He has been playing his football in the North East since 2021 but his future is up in the air.
The 25-year-old is a product of Arsenal’s academy and played 78 matches for the Gunners as a youngster, finding the net on 11 occasions. He was loaned loan to the Toon Army before his switch was later made permanent. The Londoner has since made 129 outings and has fired in 10 goals.
The 3AM verdict: If Newcastle United make Joe Willock available for transfer, he would be perfect for either Fulham or Crystal Palace. He would bolster their respective midfield ranks and give them both something different. Marco Silva has done an impressive job at Craven Cottage and will want to freshen up his side. Meanwhile, Oliver Glasner has also worked wonders at Selhurst Park and could see Willock as someone to add more quality to his squad.
