Everton are considering a move to sign Flamengo right-back Wesley Franca and are prepared to beat Premier League rivals in their pursuit.
That is according to former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that David Moyes’ side were keeping tabs on the 21-year-old at the Club World Cup.
Reports claimed Brighton had made a £20million bid for the Brazil star, while Man City are also interested, but Everton are now firmly in the race.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider on 24 April that Everton are prioritising signing a right-back amid concerns about Seamus Coleman’s longevity.
While his reported asking price may be pricey for the Toffees, there is a feeling that he would be a long-term investment in a key area of the pitch.
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 14 April that Everton are prepared to back Moyes and he will be given funds to transform his team this summer.

Everton plot Wesley deal after Kyle Walker snub
Football Insider exclusively revealed in June that Everton wanted to sign Kyle Walker – but he has since joined Burnley and forced them to consider other targets.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, explained that Wesley is the latest name on Moyes’ list as they push to strengthen in his position.
“David Moyes has got some key issues he wants to address,” he told Football Insider.
“Branthwaite has signed a new contract, so that’s that one out of the way, but he still wants to strengthen his defence by signing a new right-back.
“Seamus Coleman is still there of course, but he’s not getting any younger.
“They’ve been having a look at the Brazilian lad, Wesley, who has been linked to a few Premier League clubs as his agent is trying to get him a move. Brighton have been in talks, so Everton could hijack their deal.
“Everton have had people at the Club World Cup, where he’s been impressive.
“If his fee is going to be around £20million, then maybe that’s the price they’ll have to pay, and it will be seen as a long-term investment for them.
“But I do know it’s certainly an area of the pitch they want to improve, and he’s on their list.”

Omari Hutchinson open to Premier League return
Alongside their ambitions of signing a new right-back, Moyes is also keen to strengthen on the wing, as they target a move to sign Omari Hutchinson.
Football Insider revealed on 7 July that Hutchinson “would love” to return to the Premier League, giving Everton encouragement in their pursuit of the Ipswich star.
However, the England Under-21 international has a £35million release clause in his contract at Portman Road, which could be problematic for the Toffees.
Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider that West Ham want to sign Hutchinson and could make a move after selling Mohammed Kudus to Tottenham.
