Exits at Manchester City are set to take place over the coming weeks as Pep Guardiola looks to trim his squad.
The legendary coach made it clear towards the end of last season that he does not want to work with a big group of players throughout the 2025/26 campaign, with the Spaniard already making it clear who he wishes to depart with ahead of the new term.
Kyle Walker left Man City for Burnley last week, while Jack Grealish’s future remains unclear; however, the winger is certain to leave the Etihad Stadium soon.
The next exit in Manchester could be right around the corner as Atalanta have now joined the race for an impressive £25m star in Guardiola’s squad.

Atalanta showing interest in James McAtee
James McAtee looks like he could be the next departure at Man City after the midfielder missed the FIFA Club World Cup to compete with England U21s at the UEFA European Under-21 Championship this summer.
Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the Englishman’s future with the transfer journalist stating that several clubs are showing interest in the 22-year-old, but Atalanta have now joined the race.

“James McAtee can leave Manchester City this summer for a fee of around £20m/£25m. Bundesliga, Premier League, and Serie A clubs are showing interest in the Euro U21 winner,” Romano reported. “Atalanta are among the clubs well-informed on his situation.”

The Serie A side face tough competition for the Man City star as Everton have made contact with McAtee to gauge his interest in a move, while the midfielder has an interest in making a switch to the Bundesliga, where English players in the past have developed successfully.
The big advantage Atalanta have is their ability to offer McAtee Champions League football, which is known to be a big factor in the next club the City star chooses. If that is the case, the Serie A club could be competing with just two other teams.
Bundesliga duo keen on James McAtee
It was reported at the start of June that Stuttgart have added McAtee to their transfer list, but without Champions League football, the Bundesliga club are likely to lose out to their German counterparts.
Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt are also monitoring the situation for the 22-year-old at Man City, and are the clubs more likely to make a move for the player over the coming weeks.
Both clubs tick a lot of boxes for McAtee, and for Atalanta, the German duo are realistically the main competition they face for the English talent, unless the player changes his mind and makes it clear that he wants to remain in the Premier League.
