Manchester City have until the middle of July to activate a release clause in Denzel Dumfries’ Inter Milan contract, sources have told Football Insider.

Dumfries, 29, can be purchased for just £21.5million for the next week, with the option running out on the 15th of July.

Sources say that the Netherlands international is one of the names on City’s wanted list, with Barcelona also interested.

Pep Guardiola wants to strengthen his squad in the right-back position after the departure of Kyle Walker to Burnley.

Man City want Dumfries to solve right-back problem

Last season, Guardiola was often forced to utilise Matheus Nunes, who is a midfielder by trade, at right-back.

Now that veteran defender Walker has left the Etihad for good, the need to fill that void has heightened even further.

Last season, Dumfries made 20 Serie A starts, scoring seven goals and picking up three assists throughout the course of the campaign.

However, the 29-year-old really shone in the Champions League, scoring twice and assisting three times over the two legs of Inter’s semi-final against Barcelona.

As well as Dumfries, City are also interested in Tino Livramento from Newcastle, after the England Under-21 international impressed in the Premier League last season.

‘Man City open talks to sell Nico Gonzalez’

Meanwhile, Nico Gonzalez’s agent has reportedly been speaking to a number of clubs about a move away from Man City as the club are open to his exit this summer.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who claims that City are inviting offers for the 23-year-old just six months after his arrival.

Preliminary talks have already begun with a number of potential suitors, as clubs assess what it might take to sign the former Porto star this summer.

This comes after Guardiola made it clear he wants to trim his squad this summer, with Gonzalez among a number of players the boss is open to letting go.
