Everton’s owners are putting plans in place to potentially sell their women’s team after official documents have been filed.

The Merseyside giants were previously docked eight points after breaching the profit and sustainability rules (PSR), with Premier League clubs only permitted to make £105million worth of losses over a rolling three-year period.

As per Companies House submissions on 29 May, it has been revealed a new company, EFCW Holdings Company Ltd, has been incorporated and is registered at Goodison Park.

Goodison is set to become the permanent home of Everton Women as the men’s team prepare to make the move into their new stadium on Bramley-Moore Dock.

Finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider Everton are putting the pieces in place to be able to sell their women’s team should they face any PSR issues down the line.

It comes after Aston Villa completed the last-ditch sale of their women’s team, helping them raise funds to avoid a spending breach before their accounting deadline on 30 June.

Everton want PSR ‘rip cord’ after new reveal

Borson insisted Everton want to have the women’s team sale available as a PSR “rip cord”.

He told Football Insider: “They are all looking at the women’s team.

“Every club would be looking at it because you want the option anyway.

“You want to have it as your rip cord. In a scenario where something goes wrong, either you finish lower than you expected or you end up spending more than you wanted to on a signing or whatever it is, you want that rip cord and the availability of it.

“For Everton, they also want that rip cord as one of the clubs that we know has breached PSR.

“So, I think it’s clear what it is and whether they use that rip cord, that’s another question.

“They don’t need to decide that now. They have got literally an entire year to consider whether they need to use it.

“Putting the pieces in place to be ready to use it is something that makes sense.”

Walker-Peters to Everton update emerges

In terms of a potential incoming, Football Insider revealed on 30 June Everton are interested in signing Kyle Walker-Peters, but they now face competition from West Ham and Besiktas.

In a blow to his suitors in England, Besiktas are believed to be ready to table a lucrative offer to the full-back, with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a keen admirer of his.

The 28-year-old, who made 35 appearances for Southampton last season, left St Mary’s on a free transfer last week following the expiration of his contract.
