Man United Have 'Opened Talks' With The Representatives Of £52M Rated Brazilian Star - Report

Manchester United have held fresh discussions with the agents of Atalanta midfielder Ederson, according to reports in the Brazilian media.

The Red Devils have a long-term interest in the player but Goal Brasil claim that Ruben Amorim’s side have made a recent enquiry with Atalanta, as well as having “opened talks” with his representatives.

Emerson’s asking price remains the main stumbling block to a deal going ahead. His club have refused to lower their valuation, which currently stands at €60m (£52m).

With Ruben Amorim’s side still in negotiations with Brentford over buying Bryan Mbeumo for a fee in excess of £60m, it seems unlikely that they would also table a bid for Ederson without additional funds being raised through player sales.

There is competition for Ederson

In addition to the price tag, Goal Brasil have also confirmed that United will have to contend with other clubs in the race for the Brazilian’s signature.

Both Inter Milan and Juventus have been talking to Ederson’s entourage, although it is felt that these two teams would find it difficult to agree a fee with Atalanta too.

Are Man United looking at cheaper alternatives?

On Monday, the Red Devils were credited with a strong interest in Valencia’s Javi Guerra, but those rumours were quickly dismissed by those close to the Manchester club.

There are suggestions that a move could be made for Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi. Following the Foxes’ relegation from the Premier League, a release clause was activated that means the Nigerian can be signed for only £9m.

Ndidi is said to be keen on making the switch to Old Trafford, but there is no suggestion at this time that an approach for the player is imminent.
