Real Betis have already identified Leeds United’s Mateo Joseph as a target to strengthen their attack.
Their plan was to first convince the striker, and agree outline personal terms, and then open talks with the Whites to strike an agreement.
Earlier this month, we covered claims from Spain which stated Real Betis hadn’t made any progress in agreeing terms with Leeds United.
A fresh report from Diario de Sevilla backs that up and explains negotiations for the 21-year-old have stalled.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side are said to have made a serious effort to try and take the Spain U21 international away from Elland Road. Their attempt hasn’t taken off so far because of their failure to find any sort of agreement.
At this moment in time, the newspaper local to the Andalusian club states their chances of securing Joseph’s services are ‘quite remote’.
Real Betis like to do transfers under a force of pressure towards the selling club, hence their original plan, but this piece of business hasn’t yet gone their way. Should Leeds United be considering a Mateo Joseph sale this summer then it’s probably wise they work to line up other options so Betis don’t have it all their own way.
