Manchester City remain keen on adding more players to Pep Guardiola’s squad over the coming weeks.
The legendary coach has already seen four new faces move to the Etihad Stadium as the Spaniard addressed his midfield issues and brought in a left-back in Rayan Ait-Nouri.
Fabrizio Romano believes a right-back is next on the agenda for Man City; however, the Manchester club received a blow on Tuesday, as it was reported that Newcastle will not allow Tino Livramento to leave for any amount of money during the current transfer window.
A second setback in Man City’s search for a new right-back has also emerged over the last 24 hours, as one of the Premier League club’s targets has given the green light to a move to Roma.

Man City target Wesley is ready to join Roma
It was reported by Gianluca Di Marzio in May that Wesley was Man City’s top target for the right-back role in Guardiola’s team ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
It was said that the Manchester club were pushing for the Brazilian talent at the time with the hope of getting the deal wrapped up before the FIFA Club World Cup began, with Flamengo seeking £30m for the 21-year-old.

That transfer now seems to be off the cards as Di Marzio is reporting that Wesley is the top priority for Roma this summer, with the club considering an offer exceeding €25m (£22m) for the full-back.
The Flamengo star has already given the green light to move to the Serie A club ahead of the new season, which sees another one of Man City’s targets disappear.
It was reported at the start of June that Man City have hit a wall in their search for a new right-back, and a month later, the situation doesn’t seem to have resolved itself.
Can Man City enter the new season with their current right-back options?
At present, Man City have Matheus Nunes, Rico Lewis, and Manuel Akanji as their right-back options for the 25/26 campaign, and many supporters will agree that this is not strong enough if the Manchester club are to challenge Liverpool and Arsenal for the Premier League title.
Nunes impressed in the role throughout the second half of last season; however, the Portuguese star’s flaws appeared at the FIFA Club World Cup, and Micah Richards thinks the Man City star could be a problem heading into the upcoming campaign.
It remains uncertain if Lewis is ready to step up to the starter role at City, given his struggles last season, which means Guardiola is unlikely to rely on the 20-year-old over the next 12 months.
A new right-back is a must for Man City before the transfer window shuts, as many coaches will look to exploit that side of the pitch when playing against Guardiola’s team this season.
