Manchester United are facing the possibility of missing out on another striker in Victor Osimhen with news that Galatasaray are pushing to re-sign him.

United are keen to add a centre-forward to Ruben Amorim's ranks this summer with a number of candidates on their radar. Viktor Gyokeres had been under consideration but he appears to be close to joining Arsenal.

Osimhen has been another striker heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford. The 26-year-old scored 37 goals in 41 games in Turkey last season to help Galatasaray win a league and cup double.

He has since returned to Napoli upon the expiry of his loan spell at Gala but the Italian champions are anticipated to cash-in this summer. However, United's chances of being the team to sign him are decreasing.

Galatasaray are understood to be pushing to sign him permanently and have sent a second proposal to Napoli. CalcioMercato have reported that their first bid in the region of €60m (£51.6m) was turned down by Napoli and a second offer has now been put on the table.

The new bid is worth €75m (£64.6m), the amount that matches Osimhen's release clause at the Azzurri. However, it's said that Galatasaray won't trigger the release clause in favour of paying the fee across five instalments.

It's yet to be seen whether Napoli accept the financial package or demand the payment in full. United may struggle to afford Osimhen's release clause after already spending £62.5m on Matheus Cunha, knowing that a further £65m could be splashed on Bryan Mbeumo, who is keen on joining the club.
