£38m winger firmly on Everton‘s transfer shortlist after scouting mission at Club World Cup -…

Everton are looking to strengthen their attacking ranks.

David Moyes has identified Everton’s lack of goals in recent seasons as a key reason to completely overhaul the attack.

As such, the Toffees are about to sign Thierno Barry in a £27m transfer from Villarreal, and he will be the first of many recruits up top.

Moyes is also in talks to sign James McAtee, with the Manchester City playmaker made surplus to requirements by Pep Guardiola.

Omari Hutchinson is on Everton’s radar, as is Takefusa Kubo and Tom Fellows, all of whom operate off the right flank.

Now, there is a new name emerging on the winger shortlist, and he’s just been playing at the Club World Cup.

Everton interested in signing Benfica winger Kerem Akturkoglu

Everton are in the market for a wide player this summer, with Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom returning to their respective parent clubs.

A new name has been added to Moyes’ shortlist, as TRT journalist Kutlu Akpinar reports that the Toffees are eyeing Benfica’s Kerem Akturkoglu.

Sunderland and one other unnamed Premier League club are also tracking Akturkoglu after his performances at the Club World Cup.

Interestingly, Moyes was at the US-based tournament this summer, and it seems the 26-year-old caught his eye.

Benfica are demanding around £38m to sanction his sale, so it’ll take a fairly hefty chunk out of Everton’s budget if they’re to do a deal.

Akturkoglu stats 2024/25

Akturkoglu enjoyed a stellar season for Benfica last term, registering a whopping 34 goal involvements across all competitions.

59 appearances

18 goals

16 assists

The 44-cap Turkey international netted four of those goals in the UEFA Champions League and laid on an assist against Barcelona.

So, quite clearly, Akturkoglu would be a real coup for the Toffees and a massive upgrade on their current wide options.
