£65m Manchester United target to join Turkish side

Manchester United remain active in the transfer market as manager Ruben Amorim continues to reshape his squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

The Red Devils have already welcomed new arrivals this summer, including Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon, as they attempt to bounce back from last season’s miserable 15th-place Premier League finish.

Despite heavy spending in recent windows, United are still searching for a consistent goal-scorer to lead their front line.

United have yet to secure a striker who consistently delivers goals following several unsuccessful attempts with big-name forwards.

Victor Osimhen has been one of the names persistently linked with a move to Old Trafford, especially after his blistering form with Napoli in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 campaigns, and he stellar performances last year while on loan with Galatasaray.

The Nigerian striker has long been admired by scouts and fans alike, but his hefty release clause has always proved a stumbling block.

In a dramatic twist, Galatasaray have reportedly triggered the full £65 million release clause in Osimhen’s Napoli contract and are close to completing a four-year deal for the prolific No.9, as reported by Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Turkish giants have submitted the paperwork and are now only waiting on Osimhen’s final sign-off after receiving the full terms in writing.

Fabrizio Romano reported that Osimhen is very keen to make his loan move to Galatasaray permanent, so that should not be a problem.

The striker, who returned from injury last season to score 26 goals and provide five assists in 30 appearances, looks set to wear the iconic yellow and red of Galatasaray next season.

United had previously explored the possibility of signing Victor Osimhen but were deterred by Napoli’s valuation and the striker’s expected wage demands.

INEOS are determined not to repeat the expensive errors of past regimes, especially when it comes to strikers, having been burned before with inconsistent returns.

However, news of Osimhen’s potential move to Turkey has come as a surprise across Europe, with few expecting the Nigerian to choose the Süper Lig over one of the top five leagues.

Should the deal go through as expected, Manchester United will now turn their attention to other forward options as Amorim pushes for another attacker before the window closes.

Osimhen’s decision effectively ends any lingering hopes of a Premier League switch — at least for now.
