Contract termination offered to Manchester United target

Manchester United’s hunt for attacking reinforcements has taken several twists this summer, with top targets emerging and disappearing in a transfer window shaped by strategy and restraint.

Ruben Amorim’s squad overhaul is now underway, with multiple departures already sanctioned and a renewed focus on bringing in smart, impactful signings.

The Red Devils’ disappointing 2024/25 campaign — which ended with a 15th-place finish in the Premier League and a loss in the Europa League final — has left the club without European football for the upcoming season, increasing the pressure to get their recruitment right.

United have already secured Matheus Cunha, while still assessing their options up front, especially with uncertainty surrounding Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho who all reportedly want out of the club.

Now, fresh developments in Italy could provide an unexpected opening for Manchester United to finally land a long-term target.

According to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio, Juventus are set to propose a contract termination to Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic — one of the names previously offered to United in a potential swap deal for Jadon Sancho.

The Turin-based giants are reportedly aiming to avoid paying the €24 million gross salary owed to Dusan Vlahovic per season, which has become a financial burden as they restructure their squad under new leadership.

Juventus are planning a meeting with the player’s representatives in the coming days to discuss the proposal, although it remains unclear whether Vlahovic will accept a mutual termination.

Vlahovic has registered 58 goals in 145 appearances for the Bianconeri since joining from Fiorentina, where he previously netted 49 goals in 108 games.

The 25-year-old has long been admired by decision-makers at Old Trafford and was considered a serious option last season.

With Juventus now potentially offloading him for free, United could have a unique chance to bring in the powerful striker without paying a transfer fee — though his salary would still be substantial.

As INEOS continue to reshape the wage structure at the club and avoid the mistakes of the past regime, a potential deal would still require serious internal consideration.

But if Vlahovic becomes a free agent, don’t rule out Manchester United testing the waters.
