Report: Leeds make contact to sign 'world-class' £150,000-a-week midfielder after Longstaff and …

Leeds United have made a move to sign Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz, according to TuttoSport.

The Whites have reportedly identified the ‘world-class’ Brazil international as a potential reinforcement for Daniel Farke’s midfield and are keeping tabs on his developing situation in Italy.

Juventus are said to be open to Luiz’s departure this summer, only 12 months after signing him from Aston Villa in a £42.35m deal, after he struggled to impress in his debut Serie A season.

The Bianconeri are willing to offload Luiz to make room for new signings and boost their transfer budget, and there is a high chance he could depart amid an extensive list of admirers in England.

According to TuttoSport, Luiz seems to be open to returning to the Premier League this summer and may have four potential options on the table.

While Leeds have already made an initial move, Manchester United, Aston Villa and Everton are also believed to be keeping tabs.

Clubs in Turkey and Saudi Arabia are also thought to hold an interest in the £150,000-a-week midfielder, but Luiz is reportedly not attracted to those destinations.

Leeds’ summer business has picked up pace in recent weeks, with Lukas Nmecha, Jaka Bijol, Sebastiaan Bornauw and Gabriel Gudmundsson all joining.

Gudmundsson became the latest arrival on Monday, signing a four-year deal at Elland Road following a £10m move from Lille.

Leeds are also believed to be chasing a deal for Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff, with an agreement over personal terms already in place, and have previously shown interest in Hoffenheim ace Anton Stach.
