Liverpool have changed their staff a fair amount over the last year or so.
The main switch that has taken place is that Arne Slot came in as the Reds’ head coach after Jurgen Klopp chose to resign.
Many expected Liverpool to struggle for a couple of seasons until they got up to scratch, but instead, they’ve managed to thrive and win the Premier League title.
FSG’s outlook on Liverpool also seems to have changed recently, with the American businessmen allowing Slot and Richard Hughes to spend close to £200million on bolstering their ranks.

And, since things seem to be on the up at Anfield, it’s not a surprise to see other Premier League clubs sniffing around their staff.
Julian Ward rejects offer to become Newcastle’s sporting director
At the moment, Julian Ward is a technical director for FSG rather than Liverpool themselves.
Ward stepped down from his role as sporting director in the summer of 2024, but has since come back, after Michael Edwards convinced him to do so.
Recently, however, there have been some rumours shared regarding his future as Newcastle were linked with an interest.

But, as per a new report from the Daily Mail, Ward has now ‘withdrawn’ from the running.
Liverpool can now focus on further improving their playing ranks
During the 2025-26 summer transfer window, Liverpool have managed to add a fair few new faces to their ranks.
Florian Wirtz’s £116million move from Bayer Leverkusen is arguably one of the best moves of the window, with the young German widely regarded as one of the best attacking midfielders in the world.
Other players such as Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong have also been brought to Anfield in order to help Slot cover his priority positions.

At the end of the day, it’s anyone’s guess what the future could hold at Liverpool, but with Ward now set to stay, he can focus his attention on bringing in another one or two players to strengthen Slot’s ranks even more.
