The summer transfer window is open and Arsenal have some big decisions to make about players who have entered the last year of their contracts.
In total, there are five current members of Mikel Arteta’s squad due to be out of contract in 2026. [Arsenal](https://www.teamtalk.com/arsenal) will have to decide which of these players they want to tie down to new deals and which they would rather cash in on.
They recently terminated the contract of Takehiro Tomiyasu, who was also due to reach the end of his contract in 2026, but have successfully extended Myles Lewis-Skelly’s stay for the long term.
Here, TEAMtalk takes a look at the five players in the last year of their Arsenal contracts and what the future might hold for them.
**Ethan Nwaneri**
-----------------
* Appearances last season: 37
* Goals last season: 9
* Weekly salary: £6,000
* Annual salary: £312,000
Nwaneri made major strides into the Arsenal first team last season, having originally found fame as the Premier League’s youngest ever debutant back in September 2022.
Nwaneri turned 18 in March – one year since he signed his first professional contract – which allows Arsenal to try and prolong his deal for the long term.
No agreement has yet been found, though, and there have been murmurs of interest from other clubs like Chelsea.
With how the attacking midfielder has flourished this season, it will be a priority for Arsenal to secure Nwaneri’s services for years to come and they are hopeful of a positive outcome.

**Leandro Trossard**
--------------------
* Appearances last season: 56
* Goals last season: 10
* Weekly salary: £90,000
* Annual salary: £4.68m
So far in Trossard’s time at Arsenal, the evidence has suggested he is better as an impact sub than as a starter.
Now 30 years old, Trossard can prove his worth to Arsenal thanks to his attacking versatility, but plans to improve across the attack mean he could be under pressure to stay at the club.
Arsenal paid an initial £21m to sign Trossard from Brighton in January 2023. Selling him this summer might be their last chance to recoup a decent fee before his value starts declining too much.
Arsenal held talks with Trossard over a new contract as recently as May, but if they do keep him, it would still be as a depth piece.
**Oleksandr Zinchenko**
-----------------------
* Appearances last season: 23
* Goals last season: 1
* Weekly salary: £150,000
* Annual salary: £7.8m
Zinchenko was linked with an exit from Arsenal in January and is still attracting interest from elsewhere in Europe.
After joining from Manchester City in 2022, Zinchenko has played primarily from left-back. However, there has been no major news about a new deal for the Ukraine international, 28.
Arsenal may well be evolving to a future beyond Zinchenko, which might make him a candidate for sale again.
He was a winter target for Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, while more recently AC Milan have been mentioned as suitors.
**Albert Sambi Lokonga**
------------------------
* Appearances last season: 23 (on loan at Sevilla)
* Goals last season: 0
* Weekly salary: £50,000
* Annual salary: £2.6m
On his third loan spell away from Arsenal, you would imagine Sambi Lokonga would have had to do something sensational to convince his parent club of his worth while playing for Sevilla.
That has not happened for the 25-year-old midfielder, despite him getting regular minutes in LaLiga.
Arsenal allowed for Sevilla to retain an option to buy Sambi Lokonga, which hasn’t been used but is evidence enough that he would be unlikely to earn a renewal back in north London.
**Karl Hein**
-------------
* Appearances last season: 32 (on loan at Valladolid)
* Goals conceded last season: 70
* Weekly salary: £10,000
* Annual salary: £520,000
Hein spent the 2024-25 season on loan at Valladolid, who finished bottom of LaLiga. Despite their relegation, there have been rumours that the Spanish club would be interested in keeping him.
Arsenal have added to their goalkeeping depth this summer by signing Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea, so there doesn’t seem to be a pathway for the Estonia international to regain a role at Arsenal.
