The Giants might be without one of their most important players in Week 1.
Andrew Thomas, Big Blue’s All-Pro left tackle who played just six games after suffering a Listfranc injury last season, was noncommittal when asked about his Week 1 status on the Giants Huddle podcast.
“I’m feeling good. Just taking my time with it. Don’t really have a projection right now, but doing everything that the trainers are telling me and hopefully, I am ready to go,”Thomas said via the Giants Huddle podcast. “(Week 1) is the goal, but we try not to make any predictions. Just trying to get ready.”
Thomas, 26, has struggled to stay healthy in recent memory, playing just 16 games in the past two seasons. He underwent surgery on his foot in October and barely participated in the Giants’ offseason program.
Recovery from Lisfranc surgery can range from six months to a year, which could explain Thomas’ hesitancy to declare a return date.
The Giants, who face the toughest schedule in the NFL next season, are certainly going to need him. Coach Carmen Bricillo’s offensive line crumbled following Thomas’ 2024 injury — which is further proof of the ex-first rounder’s importance to the unit.
Let’s see if Thomas can fully recover in time for their Week 1 game at the Commanders.
