Torino goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic could potentially be affected this transfer window amid interest from Leeds United.

The Serbia international is being eyed by the Whites, with several top teams also interested in him.

Napoli are in the race for Milinkovic-Savic’s signature, and the West Yorkshire outfit will undoubtedly find it hard to compete with the Serie A champions.

With Daniel Farke seemingly losing faith in Illan Meslier at the Peacocks, doors may have opened at Elland Road to sign the 28-year-old shot-stopper from Italy.

The news outlet reports (9 July) that the Serbian star’s exit from Torino seems to be on the cards, and while he’ll join the Serie A outfit’s training camp, the 28-year-old’s continuity there is uncertain.

It’s been claimed that the shot-stopper’s potential transfer to Naples may be off for now after their offer was rejected by Il Toro.

The Whites are awaiting the goalkeeper’s response at Elland Road as he looks to be a regular starter, which would be more likely in LS11.

Leeds should have edge in Milinkovic-Savic transfer approach

While Napoli definitely can lure Milinkovic-Savic to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona after winning the league title, Alex Meret has cemented his place in between the sticks under Antonio Conte.

Meslier’s future at Elland Road is uncertain after losing his place in the starting lineup to Karl Darlow towards the end of last season.

Farke can’t rely on the Wales international as his number one if he hopes to survive immediate relegation from the Premier League.

Leeds should have an edge over Napoli in terms of being able to offer Milinkovic-Savic a starting berth and making him an influential member of their squad in the English top flight.

The West Yorkshire outfit have bolstered their defence this summer, but without a quality goalkeeper, that may not matter much.

With the Serbian star’s impressive shot-stopping and penalty-saving abilities, it isn’t surprising to see the Whites pursuing a deal.
