Liverpool have been linked with several players since the summer transfer window opened up at the start of June.
Arne Slot and Richard Hughes have spent close to £200million on bolstering their ranks thus far, with Florian Wirtz’s £116million move from Bayer Leverkusen taking up most of their budget.
However, with all these players arriving, it’s clear that Liverpool will need to sell some of their first-team squad in order to recoup some of the money they’ve spent.
Some players, such as Jarell Quansah and Nat Phillips, have already been sold on, with others, such as Luis Diaz and Harvey Elliott, both edging closer to exits themselves.

However, even though the Anfield outfit likely won’t have much left in their war chest, that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from turning about their next transfer target.
Liverpool could have an advantage in the transfer chase for Real Madrid’s Rodrygo
One of the main areas that Slot has been looking to strengthen this summer is his attacking line.
Both Diaz and Darwin Nunez seem to have one foot out of the exit door, with both players piquing the interest of several European giants.
And, while Liverpool losing both Diaz and Nunez may look like a disaster on paper, after a fresh report from Sacha Tavolieri, it feels like the Reds may already have the perfect replacement lined up.

During the 2024-25 campaign, Real Madrid failed to give Rodrygo much playing time due to the performances of players such as Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior.
This has resulted in exit links emerging for Rodrygo, with Liverpool now at the centre of the race.
“Luis Diaz’s situation could influence Liverpool’s approach in the market,” Tavolieri wrote via his personal X account.
“While Rodrygo (as explained on Saturday) made Premier League his priority despite real Al Nassr approach, Liverpool could move for the Brazilian and compete with Arsenal if they end up losing Diaz, whom they are keen to keep.
“One to watch.”
Rodrygo could be an ideal replacement for Luis Diaz
Talks of Rodrygo making a move to Liverpool have been rife ever since he first joined Real Madrid.
Throughout the last couple of seasons, the attacker has been a key player for Los Blancos, but last season, things seemed to change.
Indeed, he did manage to bag 14 goals across all competitions, but with the amount of attacking talent that Xabi Alonso has among his ranks at the moment, there isn’t enough game time for everyone to get what they deserve.

The 2024-25 season of Rodrygo in numbers.
The Brazilian is often used on either wing, but he has also, on occasion, been used as a striker.
He’s fast on the ball and also has a keen eye for goal, which are two of the main things you need to be a success in the Premier League.
Of course, only time will tell what the future holds, but on paper, a move for Rodrygo makes plenty of sense.
