Belief Everton player could be targeted as low-cost option

Everton striker Beto could be a low-cost option for Atalanta this summer as they look to strengthen their attacking options.

That’s according to Corriere della Sera, who say the Everton striker could be targeted as a replacement for Mateo Retegui and Berat Djimsiti.

They are currently being targeted by clubs in the Middle East, with Retegui a target for Saudi Arabian club Al-Qadsiah and a €42m bid already rejected. That’s now been upped to €50-53m, which is closer to Atalanta’s demands of €60m.

Djimsiti is a target for Al-Rayyan in Qatar too, offering him €10-12m in wages to make the move a year before his deal with Atalanta expires in 2026.

If those sales go through, the Italian side have a list of targets to move on and Everton’s Beto is considered the lost-cost option. He can be signed for €25m according to the newspaper.

Whether Everton would actually sanction his exit is up for debate. They’ve already lost Dominic Calvert-Lewin this summer and that’s left Beto as the only senior striker.

They are about to sign Thierno Barry from Villarreal, but it seems unlikely that David Moyes would be happy going into a new season with him as the main centre-forward.
