Victor Osimhen warned about 'regret' ahead of transfer, Nigeria legend urges Man Utd to move for prolific goalscorer

Manchester United are still in the hunt for a new striker after months of speculation.

The 2024/25 season was a dire one for Manchester United.

From losing the Europa League final to finishing 15th in the Premier League, Ruben Amorim will be desperate to turn things around at Old Trafford this season.

One way to achieve this is by setting goals for the team. United scored just 44 league goals last term, which explains how Amorim’s side finished so low in the table.

United signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves earlier this summer, after the Brazilian scored 17 goals in the Premier League last term. Ineos are now trying to sign Bryan Mbeumo, who outscored Cunha with 20 league goals.

The next step will be settling on a striker target after being linked with several options. Liam Delap was strongly linked with a move to United before deciding to join Chelsea earlier this summer. To make matters worse, United are set to miss out on Viktor Gyokeres, who is set to join Arsenal.

Sunday Oliseh warns Victor Osimhen over transfer

After missing out on Gyokeres, United must re-evaluate their options in attack and find an alternative in the transfer market before the new season begins.

The current options include Ollie Watkins, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Victor Osimhen.

Weighing in on the debate, former United centre-back Rio Ferdinand urged United to sign Osimhen from Napoli following a recent bid from Galatasaray worth £50 million.

Galatasaray have yet to reach an agreement with Napoli for the 26-year-old striker.

Former Ajax, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund midfielder Sunday Oliseh has offered some advice for Osimhen regarding his future.

Oliseh acknowledges that his compatriot is at a delicate point in his career, and he doesn’t want him to miss out on a move to the Premier League. The former Nigeria international shared his thoughts about Osimhen on X, formerly known as Twitter, this morning.

Right now, Osimhen appears to be edging closer to a permanent move to Turkish champions Galatasaray. The Nigerian is reportedly keen on staying in Istanbul after a successful loan spell.

Time is running out to sign Osimhen, with United yet to make a move.

Galatasaray make headway on talks over Osimhen

Oliseh won’t get his wish of seeing Osimhen play in the Premier League if he completes a permanent switch to Turkey, unless he joins at a later stage of his career.

According to TuttoNapoli, Galatasaray’s vice president Abdullah Kavukcu is set to arrive in Italy for direct talks with the Serie A champions over a deal.

The report claims Galatasaray are willing to pay Osimhen’s release clause in three annual instalments.

Osimhen turned down a move to the Saudi Pro League earlier this summer because he wants to stay in Europe.
