Date set for Bryan Mbeumo to complete Manchester United transfer

Manchester United’s pre-season preparations are now fully underway, with the squad hard at work at Carrington under the watchful eye of Ruben Amorim.

Several first-team stars have returned to training, while new arrivals Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon have already made their presence felt at the club’s base.

United’s first warm-up fixture against Leeds in Stockholm is just days away, and Amorim is keen to have further new signings in place before the squad departs for their pre-season tour of the United States.

While the club continues to work on outgoings, efforts to strengthen the frontline remain a priority — and one Premier League attacker is edging closer to becoming a Red.

Manchester United remain optimistic about reaching an agreement to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford this summer.

The Red Devils have already had two bids turned down for the 25-year-old, but talks have continued between the two clubs and sources suggest that a breakthrough is near.

Brentford are holding out for a £65 million fee and want most, if not all, of it to be paid up front.

United have not yet matched that request in full, but are believed to be close enough in total value that a compromise could be found.

Crucially, Bryan Mbeumo is said to be keen on the move and is reportedly growing frustrated with the slow pace of negotiations.

Personal terms have been agreed in principle between the player and the club, and there’s growing confidence that a deal can be completed before United fly to the US for their summer tour, as reported by Sky Sports.

While the rest of the Brentford squad reported back for pre-season training this week, Bryan Mbeumo was noticeably missing from the group.

The Cameroonian forward scored 20 goals last season across all competitions and offers the pace, versatility and finishing quality United have lacked in recent campaigns.

Ruben Amorim sees Mbeumo as an ideal fit for his attacking system, and the club’s recruitment team have been working hard to make the deal happen.

If all goes to plan, United fans could see their new winger don the shirt for the first time in America — but finalising the structure of the deal remains key.
