“Feel Like You’ve Been Betrayed, Or Like You’re Not Wanted”: Jared Goff Opens Up On Rams-Lions…

Jared Goff, Detroit Lions starting quarterback, recently opened up on his infamous trade from the Los Angeles Rams in the first episode of season 2 of the ‘Quarterback’ series on Netflix. Goff played for the Rams all the way from the 2016 season to the 2020 season after the team bagged him as the very first pick in the draft.

LA’s decision to trade Goff not only stunned the quarterback himself but many NFL fans who voiced their dislike online. In place of Goff, the Los Angeles Rams brought in Matthew Stafford. Jared Goff reportedly was totally surprised by the news of the trade and felt that the team should have taken the time to at least discuss it with him beforehand.

“So, 2020 season happens, three weeks after the last game of the season, I get a call from [Rams coach] Sean [McVay], and really did not expect anything. He lets me know they’re trading me to Detroit and I’m like, ‘Oh, whoa, OK, alright, what the hell, what’s happening?’ And I would say about 30 seconds after that phone call, it was on Twitter. You feel like you’ve been betrayed, or like you’re not wanted, and I think, for me, ultimately, it was the fact that there wasn’t a conversation had and that there wasn’t a, ‘Hey, we’re thinking about moving on,’ type of thing, there was nothing. You wish that it wasn’t such a blindside and you wish that there was some sort of, maturity, I guess, to have that conversation, to be able to let me know what was going on and how things went down, and why this is happening.” Jared Goff said about his trade in the ‘Quarterback’ series.

Jared Goff’s Trade Could Have Been Handled Better, As Per Sean McVay

Meanwhile, Jared Goff does not seem to be the only one who did not appreciate the way the Los Angeles Rams handed the news of his trade to him. Much later, after the trade went down, LA’s head coach, Sean McVay, admitted that he could have done a better job of communicating Goff’s trade with the quarterback.
