Kevin De Bruyne’s 10-year Manchester City career came to an end this summer.
The Belgian arrived at the Etihad Stadium in 2015 from Wolfsburg, looking to prove a point after a failed spell in England with Chelsea, and the midfielder achieved this and much more.
After 422 appearances, 108 goals, 177 assists, and a medal from every competition possible, this has resulted in Bernardo Silva labelling De Bruyne as Man City’s greatest player of all time, a view many others associated with the Manchester club share.
However, Paul Scholes is not of this opinion, with the former Manchester United star stating that another City legend was a better player than the Belgian superstar.

Paul Scholes names David Silva as Man City’s greatest ever player
David Silva arrived at Man City from Valencia as part of a £30m deal in 2010, and just like De Bruyne, the Spaniard created a legendary career for himself at the Etihad Stadium.
Scholes knows a thing or two about top midfielders, having successfully played in that area of the pitch for many years at Man United, and when asked who Man City’s greatest ever player was, the pundit told TNT Sports he believes it is Silva.

Although many believe that label is held by De Bruyne, the Man City legend himself has previously stated that Silva is the Manchester club’s greatest ever player.
This is a debate that Man City fans will be having for many more years to come, as both players had a huge impact on the Premier League giants during the 10 years they spent at the Etihad Stadium.

How David Silva compares to Kevin De Bruyne
Scholes recently stated that Erling Haaland is on his way to becoming one of the greatest in Premier League history, and further down the line, the Norwegian may join the conversation of who is Man City’s best player of all time.
At present, that seems to be between Silva and De Bruyne, who are easy to compare given that they both operated in similar areas and played around the same number of games in sky blue.

Although Silva was arguably the more technical and skilful of the two players, De Bruyne was more effective in the final third during his time at Man City, evident in the number of goals and assists he produced.
The Belgian was also involved in more big moments and won more important trophies, which to many is what tips the argument in the 34-year-old’s favour.
