Report: Nottingham Forest reach out to 'magical' £38m attacker who outshone Johan Bakayoko

Nottingham Forest are on the lookout for wingers on the back of Anthony Elanga leaving the football club in the coming days.

Elanga is joining Newcastle in a deal worth an initial £55 million, with Forest set to lose an influential player from the team.

Igor Jesus has signed for Forest from Botafogo this summer and he’s going to be joined by a number of other players to bolster the ranks.

Pepe has been linked with Forest and it looks as though the Reds will be pushing the boat out to get some new recruits before the season gets underway.

With the Elanga deal close to completion, Forest are getting linked with forwards at quite a pace and now another new name appears to be on the list.

Nottingham Forest want Kerem Akturkoglu

According to the Turkish journalist Kutlu Akpinar, Forest have made contact over the signing of Akturkoglu with two other Premier League clubs keen on signing him too.

Akturkoglu is currently playing for Benfica in Portugal and during the 2024/25 campaign, he scored 18 goals and claimed 16 assists for the Portuguese giants.

It’s not clear whether Benfica will actively look to sell the 44-time Turkey international this summer, but a valuation has been set at £38 million.

Akturkoglu typically plays on the left-hand side, which doesn’t make him a direct replacement for Elanga, although he can play in other positions across the front three.

Akturkoglu hailed as ‘magical’ for Benfica

It really was a season to remember for the 26-year-old at Benfica and naturally, clubs from bigger leagues are now courting the player.

Forest will be looking for a couple of wingers and Akturkoglu does seem to have a nice profile, with the player in his prime right now.

The fee being mentioned does seem high but ultimately, clubs are now aware that Forest have money to spend and that makes negotiations a bit more difficult.

Akturkoglu was called ‘magical’ by the Portuguese media this season and after a campaign to remember, it’s no surprise that Premier League clubs want him to join their ranks.
