Since arriving in Tampa Bay, Baker Mayfield has finally come into his own in Years 6 and 7 of his career.
The Buccaneers signal caller has posted back-to-back career seasons, eclipsing the 4,000-yard mark in passing yards for the first two times ever, and setting career marks with 28 touchdown passes in 2023 and a whopping 41 in 2024, just two off Tom Brady's franchise record of 43 (2021).
Mayfield's career has been trending upward since joining the Buccaneers, and fans hope that continues into 2025.
SI's Iain MacMillan sees a sure prop bet for Mayfield next season at +135 (FanDuel) to eclipse the 4,000-yard passing mark once again.
"Mayfield has done nothing but succeed while joining the Buccaneers, eclipsing 4000-plus passing yards in his first two seasons," MacMillan wrote. "The loss of Coen shouldn’t have a dramatic effect, as the new offensive coordinator, Josh Grizzard, was the team’s pass game coordinator last year. Mayfield shouldn’t skip a beat."
In Tampa Bay, Mayfield thrived under two offensive coordinators: Dave Canales in 2023, who became the Carolina Panthers' head coach in January 2024, and Liam Coen in 2024, now the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Entering 2025, last season's passing game coordinator, Josh Grizzard, is now a new voice in Mayfield's ear as the offensive coordinator, but with the way the franchise preaches continuity and stability, not much is expected to change in the offense from last season.
That's good news for Mayfield.
