Jamie Vardy and Man United update as Leicester City hero's transfer preference emerges

Leicester City hero Jamie Vardy has been linked with a host of club following his emotional exit from King Power Stadium.

The veteran striker is a free agent after ending his 13-year relationship with the Foxes, one that many believe sees him leave as the club’s best ever player.

Vardy, won the Premier League and FA Cup in his legendary career, which saw him score 200 goals in 500 appearances.

Earlier this week it was claimed the 38-year-old is one of several free agent centre-forwards who have been offered to Manchester United, along with the likes of Callum Wilson and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who have departed Newcastle United and Everton respectively.

However, talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook has played down the prospect of Vardy moving to Old Trafford. He did, though, narrow the parameters of Vardy’s next move.

Crook said: “There is nothing that has been suggested to me to say Vardy is anywhere close to joining Manchester United,” but adding “he does want to stay in Premier League.”

Vardy has spent 10 of the last 11 seasons in the top flight and still scored nine goals in what was a dire top-flight season for the City last term.

United have also been linked with Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins but it is thought they would need to move on Rasmus Hojlund before spending a fee on the former Brentford forward.

As for City, who will be playing up front next season is one of the many issues that needs resolving as soon as possible with the new campaign just a month away.
