Leeds United have submitted what is believed to be their final offer to sign Sean Longstaff from Newcastle United, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic.
The offer is set at around £10 million with an additional £2 million in potential add-ons for the 27-year-old midfielder. It is Leeds’ third offer for Longstaff, and while Newcastle have yet to respond to this one, the offer is near the maximum Leeds are willing to pay for the NUFC player.
Longstaff, who has one year remaining on his current deal, has already agreed personal terms with Leeds, according to The Athletic.
Talks over a contract extension with Newcastle last occurred in the winter of 2024, but he has seen little first-team action since. Newcastle activated a one-year option to extend his stay until June 2026, but the midfielder is now expected to leave in search of more regular football.
As an academy graduate, Longstaff is said to prefer that Newcastle receive a transfer fee rather than risk him departing for free next summer, not helping the club financially.
Leeds views Longstaff as a key addition to bolster their midfield with top-flight experience. He has made 171 Premier League appearances across seven seasons at Newcastle, largely as a central midfielder with flexibility in both defensive and attacking roles.
If the move materializes, it would mark the end of a long spell at St James’ Park for Longstaff, who has risen through the ranks since debuting under Rafa Benítez in 2018.
