Just in: David Ornstein says Arsenal have opened talks with club to sign 'elite' forward…

Arsenal's move to sign Chelsea forward Noni Madueke has taken one step closer to completion, according to reports on Wednesday - with the two clubs now in talks over a potential move for the 'elite' forward from west to north London.

Arsenal and Chelsea have made deals for various players over the years, with Olivier Giroud, Kai Havertz and Jorginho being the most notable in recent times, with Kepa Arrizabalaga also being the most obvious example, having only moved from Stamford Bridge to the Emirates Stadium earlier this summer in a £5million deal. And now the two are locked in talks again over a move for Madueke, with Mikel Arteta keen on strengthening his forward ranks to supply competition for poster boy Bukayo Saka.

Ornstein: Arsenal 'Now in Talks' With Chelsea Over Noni Madueke Move

The wide man has piqued the interest of the Gunners after two strong seasons

Noni Madueke in action for Chelsea

The report by The Athletic reporter David Ornstein states that Arsenal have now made contact with Chelsea over a move for Madueke, with the clubs now in talks for the 23-year-old after he agreed personal terms with the Gunners on a proposed five-year contract.

There is no deal for him just yet, but the England star is prioritising a move to north London above any other interested sides who may show their keenness on completing a surprise move for his services.

Alongside a perceived move for Sporting star Viktor Gyokeres, it means Arteta is showing a real preference to strengthen his attacking ranks to finally land a Premier League title after over two decades without the famous accolade.

Madueke joined Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven two-and-a-half years ago, having previously been in fellow rivals Tottenham Hotspur's academy as a youngster - and although he endured a slow first half-season at Stamford Bridge, he did throughout the 2023/24 campaign with eight goals in all competitions last season.

That was heightened to 11 goals in all competitions last season as Chelsea won the Europa Conference League resulting in further England caps, and at the age of just 23, Madueke is a real rising star in English football - which the Gunners will look to take advantage of should they get a deal done for his services alongside Swedish star Gyokeres.
