Barcelona could reportedly make a move for Alejandro Garnacho if they are unable to strike a deal with Manchester United for Marcus Rashford this summer.

The 27-year-old England international spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa after falling out of favour at Old Trafford under new manager Ruben Amorim.

The England international, who has three years remaining on his deal with United, has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona and last month admitted he would like to play with the club's teen sensation Lamine Yamal.

However, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Rashford's United team-mate Garnacho could throw a spanner in the works of his "dream" move as the Liga outfit could be ready to target the Argentine as an alternative.

Explaining Barcelona's interest in both players, Di Marzio said: “Barcelona are interested in Rashford but Rashford is even more interested in Barcelona.

"His dream is to play there, and his agents are talking. They tried in January, and they’re trying again. Barcelona may prefer a loan because they can’t afford a big transfer fee.

"Barcelona could have an interest in Garnacho too if a loan can be agreed with United.”

Earlier this week, The Athletic revealed that Rashford reported back to Carrington for pre-season training on Monday and Tuesday after being afforded an extended time off to explore a move away from Old Trafford.

However, Rashford did not take part in team training at United's training base and began his preparations for the new season individually.
