Brighton player told he can leave – Seagulls could be set for loan + option offer

Earlier this week, Brighton’s Evan Ferguson emerged as a target for AS Roma and Corriere della Sera claimed the striker is interested in a move to Italy after a failed loan stint at West Ham.

Rome newspaper Il Messaggero cover the Ireland international’s situation in more detail today. They claim Ferguson has actually been offered to both Roma and Atalanta this summer, as his entourage looks to find a new destination for the player.

This is because Brighton have made it clear to the 20-year-old that he is not central to their plans next season and can leave the club. Roma are now considering a move but are only interested in offering an initial loan deal with an option to buy.

It remains to be seen whether Brighton are intrigued by a deal like that, and it’s the typical Italian plan for signing players from the Premier League.

Atalanta’s intentions are yet to be clear. La Dea have rejected Al Qadsiyah’s offer for Mateo Retegui and it can be presumed that any move for Ferguson will hinge on the sale of strikers in their squad.
