What probably felt like never-ending trade speculation to Boston Celtics star Derrick White seems to have ended. And White, the subject of weekly rumors given Boston’s offseason uncertainty, remains exactly where he started.
He’s happy about that.
“I think every summer is pretty crazy, especially nowadays,” White told NBC Sports Boston’s Chris Forsberg during the “Celtics Talk Podcast” released Wednesday. “But I didn’t feel too worried about anything. My agent and Brad (Stevens) had been talking and all the other rumors and stuff, I wasn’t really too worried about.”
White reportedly attracted the attention of the Golden State Warriors in late May and the Toronto Raptors reportedly offered their lottery pick before the 2025 NBA Draft. The Celtics rebuffed those trade proposals and others, according to multiple reports.
“I mean, I feel like it’s cool to be wanted by other teams, but I wanted to stay in Boston, and I was glad they wanted to keep me,” White told Forsberg.

White was not the only one included in rumors, of course. Jaylen Brown and Sam Hauser also were caught up in the wave, but both currently remain in Boston. Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis were mentioned alongside White countless times, and ultimately were dealt to the Trail Blazers and Hawks, respectively.
The 31-year-old White, though, is set to enter his fourth full season in Boston. He’s become a two-way standout for the Green, a player everyone else wants but one too valuable to deal away. And that’s exactly how he wants is.
