Olympique Lyon goalkeeper Lucas Perri could potentially see a move to Leeds United fall through this transfer window.

Daniel Farke doesn’t seem to trust Illan Meslier at the Whites, and it isn’t surprising to see them pursue a new shot-stopper.

Perri has been identified as the top choice at Elland Road to replace the Frenchman as the West Yorkshire outfit hope to strengthen their squad after winning Premier League promotion.

Although the Peacocks may have to move on to other targets to reinforce in between the sticks as a twist may be on the cards.

Johnson still expects the Ligue 1 outfit to operate under strict financial limits, as the Whites hope to sign the 27-year-old from Les Gones.

The journalist wrote on X (9 July): “Lyon have been reinstated back into Ligue 1 upon appeal. Clearly adds a bit more complexity to Leeds’s interest in Perri — though Lyon will be required to operate under strict financial limits. So will be interesting to see how it plays out.”

Leeds need Perri transfer at Elland Road soon

Leeds seem to be desperate for a new goalkeeper, with Torino’s Vanja Milinkovic-Savic also on their radar.

It isn’t surprising to see the Whites pushing for Meslier’s replacement, with Karl Darlow ending last season as the number one at Elland Road.

While the Wales international did well towards the end of the previous campaign, fans will arguably want to see a quality shot-stopper arrive to help the West Yorkshire outfit’s Premier League aspirations.

Leeds have also been linked with Aaron Ramsdale and Chelsea’s Djordje Petrovic, but it remains to be seen who ends up being signed.

What’s clear is that the Whites need a new number one after some huge errors from Meslier last season.

The Elland Road faithful will hope for a solid shot-stopper to arrive in LS11 in the coming weeks.

Farke should ideally prioritise bringing in a new goalkeeper at the West Yorkshire outfit before hosting Everton at home in the Premier League on 18 August.
