The fixture had originally been scheduled for August 30 but has been brought forward a day for live broadcast by Sky Sports.
Yet it could yet be subject to further change, depending on which European competition Palace find themselves playing in this season.
The FA Cup winners are currently due to be alongside Villa in the Europa League but their spot is in doubt due to what is a perceived breach of Uefa’s multi-ownership rules.
A decision is expected in the coming days with the possibility Palace are demoted into the Conference League.
In that case, they would be due to participate in a play-off round tie on Thursday August 28, meaning the Premier League clash at Villa would need to move again, most likely to Sunday, August 31.
Palace’s Europa League spot is at risk because their largest shareholder, John Textor, also owns Lyon.
Clubs are barred from competing in the same Uefa competition if an individual or ownership group is considered to have a decisive influence over more than one of the teams.
On Wednesday, Lyon won an appeal against their relegation from the French First Division over financial breaches, a punishment which would also have seen them barred from Europe and left the way open for Palace to play in the Europa League.
Instead, the French club are now free to compete and it is Palace at risk of being kicked out, with the possibility Nottingham Forest will replace them in the Europa League.
The London club are expected to appeal to the court of arbitration for sport should Uefa’s ruling go against them.
Villa, who returned to pre-season training this week, open their Premier League campaign at home to Newcastle on Saturday, August 16 and then visit Brentford on August 23, before the scheduled clash with Palace.
