TBR Football can exclusively confirm what sources are now saying about the future of Manchester City midfielder Nico Gonzalez.
Manchester City signed Gonzalez in the winter transfer window to help fill the void left by Rodri’s long-term injury.
However, Gonzalez failed to nail down a starting spot and, with Rodri now back and Tijjani Reijnders having joined, the Spaniard could struggle for minutes next season.
TBR Football can also confirm what intermediaries have been told to do regarding the Gonzalez situation, and who is looking at the player at present.

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has confirmed that sources have told him City are indeed open to Gonzalez leaving.
Bailey acknowledges that the situation has been played down in some quarters, but Gonzalez’s name has come up in Saudi Arabia among other places.
“I am told that City would be open to Gonzalez leaving this summer,” Bailey exclusively told TBR Football.
“The chance of bringing in Reijnders emerged with a change of head coach at AC Milan.
“City grabbed that opportunity with both hands and the Dutchman is already looking a key figure for Pep Guardiola.
“Now Gonzalez is one to watch, we have been anticipating the likes of Ilkay Gundogan going, maybe even Mateo Kovacic – but Gonzalez could very well be looking at a quick-fire City exit.
“It has been played down in some quarters, but his name has come up in Saudi Arabia and elsewhere, intermediaries are working and have been told to look at it.”
What Andres Iniesta has said about Nico Gonzalez
The prospect of Gonzalez leaving Man City after less than a year is one that fans won’t particularly enjoy.
He has shown plenty of quality and promise in his first six months, and he comes with a huge seal of approval from none other than Andres Iniesta.
Iniesta sang the praises of Gonzalez and Gavi back in 2022, telling journalist Gerard Romero: “Two footballers with brutal talent and physical conditions.
“They have had to play through this situation and they are responding in an incredible way. Don’t forget their ages. They must continue to grow in a good environment and develop their talent.”
Indeed, Gonzalez’s development at Barcelona was quicker than Andres Iniesta’s, according to former coach Fran Artiga.
Meanwhile, Guardiola said Gonzalez was a “really important” acquisition (BBC Sport) not long after he joined, so the thought of him leaving so soon will certainly raise some eyebrows among fans.
