Manchester United are heading towards a downward trajectory at the moment following a dismal PL campaign
Manchester United have become a shadow of themselves ever since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club in 2013. The Red Devils have failed to win the Premier League since then, and it is fair to suggest that the Salford-based club is nowhere near challenging for the league right now. United will also miss out on European football next season, highlighting the direction the club is heading towards.
Now, Ruben Amorim has a massive task of changing the fortunes of the club around next season. The Red Devils finished 15th in the Premier League last season, and it is fair to say that the Portuguese tactician cannot afford to let that happen again. With no European fixtures next season, Amorim’s men can focus on finishing strong in the league and aim to go all the way in a cup competition.

The INEOS era at M16 has not endured a smooth start as well. With the club’s hierarchy failing to sign new players quickly, fans are worried that the Red Devils might fail to improve next season. It is fair to say that Manchester United is a ‘sleeping giant’ right now, and Ruben Amorim must do everything in his power to turn the fortunes of the club around in the coming years.
Manchester United is not the right club to join right now
Manchester United have only managed to bring in Matheus Cunha in the transfer window for now. The deal was quickly done and fans remained hopeful that new players would follow in soon. But that has not been the case, and the Red Devils are still trying to negotiate a deal for Brentford Bryan Mbeumo. The slow progress made by the Salford-based club is surely frustrating the fans as United have started their pre-season preparations.
Now, Darren Bent has questioned United’s transfer strategy as the club fights hard to lure players in. Speaking on talkSPORT, Bent said,
“You try and look at the situation Man United find themselves in. They were atrocious last year and appalling. And yes they are still Manchester United. But I think sometimes you got to look at it realistically and say that they are still a huge football club but you can’t get away from the fact that it’s still a mess.”
😳 “They’re a mess.”
🤔 “If you’re a top player, why would you join them [over Arsenal or Man City]?”

The ex-Spurs player added,
“It’s an absolute mess no matter what direction you go in. Yes it’s still an honour to play for one of the biggest sides in the country. But if you’re a top player, you can have other top clubs after you. So why would you go to Man United?”
Darren Bent points out that Man United were really poor last season, and even though the club is huge in stature, they are still a mess. The ex-Spurs player acknowledges that a player might think that joining the Red Devils would mean playing for one of the biggest teams in England. But Bent questions a player’s choice of joining United, when other top (and better) clubs in the league are lining up for them.
One of the major reasons why players look to join Manchester United is to make an impact at M16 and be the frontman to change the fortunes of the club around. For now, the Red Devils are still figuring out how to close the gap on their rivals. But it is fair to say that the Salford-based club will be back on top sooner rather than later if they make the right decisions in the transfer market and back the manager.
