Manchester United still don’t have a deal in place for Bryan Mbeumo, and talks with Brentford may become even trickier.
Ruben Amorim wanted to rebuild his attacking options at Manchester United this summer.
Matheus Cunha joined United early in the window, with the Brazilian forward completing a big-money move from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Cunha can’t be expected to turn United’s attacking fortunes around on his own, and more attacking quality is needed around him.
United have been chasing Bryan Mbeumo, but convincing Brentford to sell has not been easy.
Brentford expect a third United bid for Mbeumo after rejecting two offers so far, but talks may become even more complicated.

Tottenham Hotspur explore Yoane Wissa deal
Sky Sports report that Tottenham are interested in signing Brentford attacker Yoane Wissa and are exploring a potential deal.
Spurs appointed Thomas Frank as their new manager this summer and are now looking to reunite him with Wissa.

Tottenham had been interested in Mbeumo, but appeared to back away as he made it clear that he wanted to join United.
Spurs appear to have shifted their focus to Wissa, and United could be severely impacted by any move for the DR Congo international.
Sky claim that Brentford don’t want to lose both Wissa and Mbeumo, so any deal with Spurs would make United’s pursuit ‘increasingly difficult’.
BBC Sport’s Sami Mokbel adds that Tottenham are now moving to sign Wissa, with the Brentford ace open to a move.
Brentford may use Tottenham interest to speed up Manchester United
Brentford want clarity over Mbeumo’s future just as much as United fans do.
Mbeumo returns for pre-season training on Monday, and the Bees surely want some indication on whether United are willing to pay up or not.
It’s now more than a month since Mbeumo made it clear that he wanted to join United, but a move to Old Trafford doesn’t seem any closer.
The idea that Brentford may refuse to sell Mbeumo if Wissa leaves first could easily be a tactic to tempt United into making an increased offer as quickly as possible.
Mbeumo surely wouldn’t be happy to see a United move blocked after weeks of interest, but the ball is in United’s court, and Ineos must come up with a new offer quickly – or risk missing out.
