Everton could line up a move for Aston Villa captain John McGinn.
The Scotsman could be the perfect leader for David Moyes’ side after Doucoure’s contract ran out at the end of last season.
McGinn would renew optimism for Everton’s transfer window, having failed to bring in any new faces this summer.

Aston Villa target new midfielder boosting Everton’s chances of signing McGinn
Everton are interested in McGinn but have so far made no progress in signing the Scottish star.
However, the Villans are still not out of the woods when it comes to Profit and Sustainability Rules, and Unai Emery’s side look to be preparing for potential exits.
MORE TOFFEES STORIES
According to French media outlet FootMercato (9 July), Everton’s Premier League rivals have shown interest in Stoke City midfielder Sol Sidibe.
Villa’s interest could give the Friedkins Group something to think about when it comes to any further advances for McGinn in the coming weeks.
Since the Toffees were linked with the 30-year-old, it has been claimed that McGinn could find linking up with fellow Scotsman Moyes an attractive prospect.
Moyes is looking to improve his options in the middle of the park ahead of the new campaign, with Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney another name on their shortlist.

Everton should take advantage of Villa’s transfer woes
While Villa will be reluctant to let McGinn go, given their recent woes, Everton can likely convince them to part ways with the Scotsman.
McGinn signing would be a statement signing for the Blues, with an exciting campaign ahead first full season under new ownership.
He made 49 appearances across all competitions last season, contributing to a total of 10 goals.
The Scottish international was crucial to Villa making the Champions League quarter-finals and almost inspired a comeback in their second leg against Paris Saint-Germain.
Moyes may need to add a couple of new bodies in midfield, with the Toffees manager unable to rely on 35-year-old Idrissa Gueye and James Garner, and Tim Iroegbunam, who can be injury-prone.
Everton need someone who will give their all, and McGinn would join the likes of Jordan Pickford in that criteria.
