Man United Handed "Very Embarrassing" Bryan Mbeumo Verdict Amid Tottenham Interest

Man United have been told that it would be “very embarrassing” if they lost out in the race to sign Bryan Mbeumo to Tottenham Hotspur.

Mbeumo is one of Man United’s key transfer targets this summer as Ruben Amorim aims to rebuild his squad, particularly in attack, after a year where they were the fifth-lowest-scoring side in the Premier League.

They have made two bids to sign Mbeumo from Brentford, but they have both been rejected, with the most recent amounting to £62.5m; the same fee they paid for Matheus Cunha. They are battling with Premier League rivals Tottenham to sign the winger, who could re-unite with Thomas Frank if he moves to North London.

Mbeumo has reportedly agreed to join Man United, and despite Frank joining Spurs, Old Trafford is the 25-year-old’s ideal destination.

Parker makes “very embarrassing” Mbeumo claim

Former Man United player Paul Parker has said that it would be “very embarrassing” if United missed out on Mbeumo to Spurs. He told Gameshub: “It’ll be very embarrassing for Manchester United if they can’t get the deal for Bryan Mbeumo over the line,” he said. “That said, I do think they will get the deal done, I think it’s clear that Old Trafford is his preference.

“If they don’t get him, it’ll be down to the club failing to get the deal down, rather than Mbeumo not wanting to go to Old Trafford. Everyone is saying that the pull of Thomas Frank at Tottenham will make him sign there, but he was happy to leave the manager. He wanted to leave Brentford whilst Frank was still in charge.

“We don’t know if Daniel Levy is a fan of his either, he has a big say over the incomings at the football – that said, they do need something in that front line at Spurs. Heung-min Son has lost that sharpness and they’re lacking in that frontline.”

If United were to sign Mbeumo, he would help to improve Amorim’s attacking unit; last year he scored 20 goals, and provided seven assists in the Premier League.
